Grant Application Overview

The Huelsmann Foundation grant program reflects a commitment to carrying forward Richard Huelsmann’s diverse community involvement interests. We develop and adjust strategies and approaches based on emergent community needs.

To be eligible for a grant an organization must be approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, or have the appropriate fiscal agent.

We believe that the Foundation can be most effective by concentrating its resources in a few programmatic and geographic areas. This means we cannot support many worthy projects outside our program interests. The Huelsmann Foundation does not generally provide grants for operating expenses, nor does it provide direct assistance for individuals, including scholarships. Units of government may apply for funding for special projects that complement public functions. However, we will not fund activities that are traditionally the responsibility of government.

Please note the Foundation's primary geographic focus in grant making is the Stillwater, Minnesota area.
